Introduction

The World Academy of Tirana is an International school in the heart of Albania that is a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). A pre - elementary class introduces the IB Primary Years Programme (5 – 11), while for the early years (9 months – 5 years) the curriculum is delivered through the Montessori method. The school first welcomed pupils in 2008 as The International Montessori School of Tirana and in 2010 The World Academy of Tirana was opened.

Now known as WAT the school is recognised for its wonderful balance of learning through discovery with academic rigour introduced gradually at the right age and stage. WAT is the only international school in Tirana to offer an internationally recognised programme leading to a globally accepted qualification.

At the school children from numerous Embassies and NGO organisations mix naturally with Albanians to create a truly cosmopolitan mix, all speaking English. Support is available for non-English speaking children who join the school. The school is exceptionally well resourced and offers a very targeted, focused education based around individual needs.

Dear Parents,

We are really excited about our accomplishments this month. Our students have learned a lot about ecology and the importance of preserving Earth’s precious resources.
The teachers also stressed the importance of keeping what we already have in good condition. Our field trip to the national park (to pick up trash) was a great success.
One of our goals for planning this event was to teach our students about their individual roles in making our planet a better, more beautiful place to live, not just for today, but for future generations.
We are also excited about next school year. We have a wonderful school year planned and are happy about the teachers that will consist of our classroom teaching staff.
We are sure that you will be as pleased as we are with the talented individuals that will be part of WAT’s teaching team.
